Im typing to inform you all about the class mid-term test days and dates

On Thursday (30 July 2009) we are having our:

There once was an old couple who had been married for thirty years.

Every morning the old boy would wake up and give off an enormous fart, much to his long suffering wife's annoyance.

"You'll fart your guts out one of these days," she always complained.

After a particularly bad week the wife decided to have her revenge and got up early, placing some turkey giblets in the bed next to the old boy's arse.

While making breakfast downstairs she heard his usual morning fart reverberate through the floorboards followed by a scream.

Twenty minutes later a rather shaken man came downstairs.

"You was right all along Missus," the old man says, "I finally did fart my guts out, but by the grace of God, and these two fingers, I managed to push 'em back in!"

The new Supermarket near our house has an automatic water mister to keep the produce fresh. Just before it goes on, you hear the sound of a thunderstorm and the smell of fresh rain. When you approach the milk cases, you hear cows mooing and witness the scent of fresh butter fat. When you approach the egg case, you hear hens cackle and the air is filled with the pleasing aroma of eggs frying.

So far I have been too afraid to go down the toilet paper aisle.

I just finished marking the science workbook and I'm feeling rather disappointed. :(

The switch board in the labs are not working well and I know that my students will not be able to understand the factors affecting the brightness of the bulb. Afterall, seeing is believing and doing it by your own you will remember it better .

Just when I thought that i had to resort to simply "telling" the students instead of showing them the real thing, I discovered the circuit builder website. It is a very good tool to let students see the difference in the brightness of the bulb due to the different arrangement. It is even better than many of the switch board in labs. I thought that the students will be excited and benefit from the website.

But atlas, I was wrong!

I had provided my students with the link and password. All they need to do is to go to the class blog and click, but yet from the worksheet I know only a handful of students actually listen and explored the website.

What else can I do to get students to take responsibility of their own learning? How else can i make it easier for students to learn? I've served the "food"right up to their mouth. Now what i can do is to just see how many of them are willing to open their mouth and "eat".

Miss Ng can teach but Miss Ng cannot make you learn.

Initially i do think that this year NDP song is a bit SLOW, not as catchy but after listening it to many times ( Thanks to Zhao Xian for posting it up ), I kind of like the song. I find the lyrics kind of meaningful too.

What do the rest of you think?

Dear 5D,

We will be embarking on a one-week IPW process next week.
We will try our hands on making a kite that can stay in the air for the longest time.

Your group can try to work on either changing the material of the kite or changing the size of the kite.

I will brief the class further when I get back. ( Ms Ng is having gastric.. :( )

Meanwhile, I hope you can get yourself into groups of 4 ( restrictions must have at least 2 different race this is in line with your Racial Harmony.)

Let me try to rephrase Colin's and Zaw's questions.

If the voltage of the battery is higher than the bulb, the bulb will fuse.

The task that I had asked you to try is to find out what is the voltage of the bulb. ( ** Zaw suggested that we can test it out by adding the number of batteries until the bulb fuses. )

So let's assume that the maximum number of batteries (1.5v) that could be added to the circuit is 5.

What would happen if we added another bulb instead? Can the circuit now allows a total of 10 ( 1.5v) batteries?

I hope it is clearer now. I would strongly encourage all of you to participate in this discussion. Learning is really about discovering new information on your own. Only then you will learn and remember better.

Zhao Xian ^^

Today Miss Ng brought Zinan, Afiq, Renhui, Phyo, Zhao Xian, Jimmy, Shthesd and me to KFC for a treat. All of the pupils went for treat is because they won many tokens in the Sport Carnival except for Afiq and me. We went since we were voted as model students last semester. I am sure that Miss Ng has spent a lot of money on the yummy KFC for us. (*$_$*). We are so grateful to her.

I think I deserve the treat as I have put in all my effort to learn. When other pupils are playing, I am studying. Knowledge is infinite. There is no end to learning, so of course sometimes I feel that study is boring. Whenever I want to shirk from studying, I will remind myself of the secondary school in my dream----Nanyang Girls’ High School and force myself to study. On the day I became the role model of my class, I seemed to be in my dream. There was no need to pinch myself; I knew it was real by hearing the cheers and applause from all my friends.

I am going to work harder than before from today onwards to show that I deserve the treat. I wished I can always hear the applause from my friends and let my parents always receive my report book with smiling faces. By the way, I want to seek help from all my 5D friends. Can you always speak in English but not Mandarin to me? As a pupil from China for just one and half years, my English oral is not very good. Worksheet can only help me in answering questions but not oral. If my oral become better, I will be nearer to my dream. (^_^)
